Liar’s Key ….

51dCoVHmzoL._SX328_BO1,204,203,200_Thank you to EDELWEISS for the chance to read and give an honest review.
I have read many Carla Neggers novels and enjoyed them. This is part of a series, A Sharpe &
Donovan novel, Emma and Colin are FBI agents, that met while investigating the murder of a sister
in Emma’s convent. They fall in love and begin a relationship, Emma leaves the convent and begins
working for the FBI. Emma is a Sharpe, her grandfather being an art detective.
I struggled with the beginning of the book, the story seemed slow to me, and I felt that it took
a long time to get to the mystery. Once I reached that part, the story seemed to flow. It was a true
whodunit. It was all tied up in the end.
I liked most of the characters, I really enjoyed Oliver, he was funny and very engaging. I also like the character of Mary, a spunky Irish girl.
If you enjoy murder, history, greed, and love, you will love this story. I think it is easier to read
the rest of the novels in the series first.
Thank you again, EDELWEISS…

The Things We Knew:

519k+FIn0pL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_Thanks to NETGALLEY for the chance to she and give an honest review.

This is my first Catherine West novel, I liked her writing style, she told most of the story
from Lynette’s point of view. Lynette’s mother had passed away twelve years before the story began.
After the mother’s death, the family sort of fell apart, each sibling moving away, leaving Lynette
there in the Nantucket home with their father.
Things begin to fall apart for Lynette, her father’s health is failing, she is out of money, she works in a day care and sells some of her painting’s. Lynette is feeling desperate, she has to try and figure
out how to get money, she tries the bank and runs into her crush, Nick, who was her brother’s best
friend, the friendship ended when she was younger, Lynette doesn’t remember what happened the day her mother passed away, Lynette begins to have nightmares. She contacts all the siblings to come home and try to find a solution.
The story goes from there, you meet all the siblings, you begin to care for them, each one is going
their own problems, and feel they should sell the house and put the father in a home this is not what Lynette wants to happen.
The ending ties it all together, what happened with the mom, Lynette’s nightmare’s, what happened between Nick and her brother Gray.
This novel is full of family drama, love, many secrets, forgiveness, but most of new beginnings.

Thank you NETGALLEY! (less)

The Lost Art of Second Chances…

51pP+Hokd4L Thank you to the author for allowing me to read and give an honest review.
This novel is the story of two woman, A beloved grandmother and a beloved granddaughter.
When Lucy’s grandmother Belladonna passes away, she makes a final request of Lucy,
go to Italy and find Paolo LaRosa and return something to him. Belladonna arranges everything, even down to her traveling companion. As Lucy follows her grandmother’s trail she begins to piece her
grandmother’s past.
This novel goes between Belladonna’s story and Lucy’s story. Belladonna begins to help Paola store art in an old church during the war. Their love story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
Lucy loses her husband and is widowed, she goes to Italy with her ex brother-in-law, Jack, her first
love. I enjoy them getting to know each other in a different way, as a man and a woman, not related.
This was a well written novel that held my attention though-out. I liked the characters, the author did a great job getting you to care about the women and their stories. This novel has it all: family
drama, secrets, history, forgotten loves and new beginnings.
Thank you Courtney Hunt.

Murder At Loftus House …

41U4A4WkcnL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_  Thanks to BOOK REVIEW 22  for the chance to read and give an honest review. I enjoyed this short story. Writing is good, story was good.

This is an Inspector Sheehan novel. It’s a whodunit murder mystery, a large estate, a family that does not care for each other much. Adrienne Davis goes to visit Margaret, her school friend, then a dinner, then a scream in the night, then a dead body. Inspector Sheehan does his sleuthing job, interviews everyone, deducts the facts and figures out the who done it!

This is a quick read, a short mystery, reminds me of the short murder mysteries I read when I was younger, I always love those short mysteries between studying and reading heavy novels.

Thank  you BOOK REVIEW 22.

Behind Closed Doors…

26050845Thank you ST.MARTIN’S PRESS for the chance to read and give an honest review.

WOW! This is an amazing read. I could not put it down.
This is the story of a marriage…..a very scary marriage. Jack and Grace appear to everyone to  be the perfect couple, they have the perfect home, Jack has a perfect job, Grace keeps a perfect home, has the perfect garden, has fabulous dinner parties, cooks gourmet meals. Grace and Jack seem to be a loving couple, they never leave each others side.
Grace has a sister named Millie, who has Down’s syndrome, and stays at a school, the plan being to have her move into the home with Jack and Grace.
I do not want to give any clues to this story, so I will tell you, the author’s writing style was great, she wrote from the present to the past. She drew me right into the characters lives, I had a bad feeling about the marriage, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Jack was too perfect, he seemed to have an evil undertone. Grace seemed so passive, that at times I did not like her. Millie is very intuitive to her surroundings and the people in her world.
This was a shocking read, I was on the edge of my seat. This was a suburb psychological novel, with a true psychopath.
If you love suspense, nail biting terror, excellent writing, and the best ending ever, you will love this novel. Thank goodness for sisters and neighbor’s.
